Retail Border Wars III: Case Studies of International Retailers Operating in Canada
By Wendy Evans and Steven Cox
No Canadian retailer is immune to the effects of global competition. Seventy of the top 100 retailers in the world now have international operations. Canadian retailers know this only too well, having watched a large number of foreign retailers who have recently arrived take a share of their market. There are now close to 80 foreign retailers that have entered and are presently operating in the Canadian market.
This research is part of a larger, three part investigation, undertaken through by the CSCA. The ongoing research consists of an analysis of the experiences of Canadian, American and European retailers that have expanded internationally and this is the third in a series of monographs which seeks to uncover the keys to success in international retailing. This third monograph contains the actual case studies of American, Italian and British retailers operating in Canada.
