Starbucks in Canada: Navigating the Pandemic

The latest research from the CSCA provides insights on Starbucks’ store strategy in Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic. With about 1,460 stores in Q1 2022, Starbucks has been in the process of repositioning its store network to meet the changing needs of consumers. This has included closing selected coffee shops in the downtowns of Canada’s major markets, whilst simultaneously expanding in suburban markets. Changes to Starbucks’ physical footprint have taken place in tandem with an increased emphasis on digital presence with expanded mobile app capabilities.
