This research paper examines the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to the management of the regional shopping centre. The paper will examine the potential of GIS in tracking and relating changes on a variety of issues that are central to mall management. These will include the competitive position of the mall in the market, the distribution and demographic profile of the centre's customer base, the physical characteristics of the centre, centre and/or retailer-initiated marketing activities and spatial variations in tenant operating performance.
